Water-based cremation - aquamation
Water-based cremation, known by various names including aquamation, flameless cremation, biocremation™ and Resomation™, employs an alkaline hydrolysis process. This method involves using an alkaline water solution to disrupt chemical bonds at the atomic level.
During the process, the body undergoes reduction into a liquid form along with porous bone fragments. The liquid travels to a heat exchanger vessel. Following neutralisation and cooling, this liquid transforms into sterile wastewater, which offers various disposal options, including recycling or utilisation as fertiliser.
The remaining bone fragments undergo rinsing, drying and grinding, where the operator can return them in an urn to the family members of the deceased pet.
